Agency Photography

Agency: the gift of choosing your actions. Although it's your decision to leave dirty dishes, you can't avoid the consequences- mold and angry roommates.

    Sierra, I love that you bring up the reality that we can’t choose the consequences of our choices in a very tangible and relatable way. (I certainly know my kitchen sink has looked like that on many occasions.) It also brings up an interesting reality that we are often affected by and face the consequences of other people exercising their agency. This at times can be really frustrating, but I certainly think it makes life more interesting too.

    I think it is fascinating to talk about the consequences that happen to us, and our limited control from others actions. It reminds me how God sometimes lets others use their agency even if it affects us negatively. There are consequences that must happen in order to let people choose to make these decisions and be judged according to what they actually did. I love how you mentioned "you can't avoid the consequences", because what real progress can we make when we are sheltered from the truth and mistakes of this life.

Although I did enjoy many aspects of this project, it just seems a bit too unbridled and individualistic for high school students. That being said, I believe this project was appropriate for both our age and skill level. We were given the freedom to discuss what we wanted to, which was way fun to explore where our lives and opinions intersected. I still believe that an overall theme would have been helpful. Our guided discussions at the beginning where pretty helpful at accomplishing an individual theme for our performance, but I was still not sure about what was expected of us. I would have also appreciated to see more examples since I was kind of unsure about what was expected, despite having a grading rubric. If I were to adapt this project for high school students, I would have formatted it to align w...
